What we do to be prepared

Providing safe, reliable energy during extreme weather takes planning, preparation and ongoing investment. We monitor weather conditions across our service territories and proactively take steps to prepare our systems, crews and communities for changing conditions.

  • We prepare our crews for upcoming storms, power interruptions or other events.
  • Our service crews from unaffected areas are prepared to join in restoration efforts as needed.
  • We maintain relationships with outside contractors and other utilities to send crews to help restore service if necessary.
  • We maintain relationships and communications with local emergency officials to coordinate efforts.
  • We regularly conduct internal mock drills and scenario-based training to equip our teams to be ready to respond.
  • We collaborate with local communities on emergency planning, training and preparedness exercises.
  • We continue to invest in infrastructure, equipment upgrades and generation resources to support the reliable energy service our customers depend on every day.
