Custer employee wins service award

When community groups in Custer, South Dakota, need help, they know who to ask.

“Whatever the need – be it a trailer, a venue for an event or volunteers – Corey is the person who always responds with, ‘I know a guy,’” said Russ, a Custer Chamber of Commerce board member. Chamber members refer to Corey as the “I-know-a-guy-guy.”

That’s just one reason the Custer Area Chamber of Commerce recently presented its 2021 Customer Service Award to Corey, who is a construction planner for Black Hills Energy. The award, which is presented at the chamber’s annual banquet, is given in recognition of “community service and volunteer work that is intended to better society.”

“Corey is involved with Christmas for Kids, Gold Discovery Days, kids soccer and basketball and is a VFW board member, plus he steps up to help with about every fundraiser that comes along,” Bailey said of Corey. “His attitude toward all things Custer sets Corey apart.”

Congratulations Corey!
