Blood drive supports Colorado community after tragic shooting
blood drive

In March, a mass shooting at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, took the life of Eric Talley. Officer Talley, a member of the Boulder Police Department, had responded to the scene.

Moved to show support for the family and community, senior gas technicians Dustin and Cody, both located in Frederick, Colorado, took action. Blood banks in the area had put out an urgent call for donations to replenish their reserves, and Thurston arranged for the Frederick office to host the Vitalant bloodmobile for a blood drive.

Fifteen Black Hills Energy employees, 11 of whom were first-time donors, gave whole blood donations that will benefit as many as 45 patients. Thank you to Dustin and Cody, and everyone who participated for taking this opportunity to support our community in the face of tragedy.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Make sure to tag us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
